The Agro-The ACReSAL is a six-year World Bank assisted Project committed to landscapes restoration in Northern Nigeria. The region is characterized by high poverty rates, an environment of fragility, degradation of natural resources, poor agricultural productivity, climate risks, desertification, poor penetration of modern technology, and weak institutional capacity. The ACReSAL project is a multi-sectoral and multi-institutional scheme, covering Environment, Agriculture and Water, designed by the Federal Government to combat desertification, restore degraded lands, and special ecosystems for agriculture and biodiversity conservation. The project has Four components of DryLand Management, Community Climate Resilience, Institutional Strengthening and Contingency and Emergency Response. .
The four components of ACReSAL
The ACReSAL project will be implemented for six years through a participatory approach and has four inter-related components.

Component A
Dry Land Management
Targets integrated watershed management planning and addresses challenges of large-scale watershed degradation in northern Nigeria.

Community Climate Resilience
Targets support for a more resilient and communities and households need targeted investments to put new approaches into effect.

Institutional Strengthening and Project Management
Targets improving the enabling institutional and policy foundation for multisectoral integrated landscape management and climate resilience, & support to project management.

Contingent Emergency Response.
Targets mechanism available to Borrowers in Investment Project Financing (IPF) operations to enable quick deployment of uncommitted funds to respond to an eligible crisis or emergency
